McCree Completes $5.4 Million Winter Haven Fire Safety Complex

ORLANDO, Fla. (May 26, 2010) – McCree General Contractors & Architects, Orlando’s premier design/build firm, recently completed the design and construction of the Winter Haven Fire Safety Complex.

Winter Haven Fire Safety Complex
The $5.4 million, 22,000 square foot Winter Haven Fire Safety Complex is a three building campus style complex. It includes Winter Haven Fire Station #1, a fire department administration building and a maintenance facility. Each building was designed and constructed with Winter Haven’s Green Initiative in mind. By using low water usage faucets, high efficiency HVAC systems and many other eco-friendly features, the Winter Haven Fire Safety Complex is hoping to receive LEED Gold Certification after it is reviewed by the USGBC.

“From the very beginning we felt confident that the McCree organization was the perfect fit to assist us in building a complex that would meet a myriad of needs for our organization and the City of Winter Haven both now and for future years. Our City’s goal of implementing programs of sustainable development, initiating ‘Green Building’ concepts and utilizing multi-use facilities were greatly enhanced when we chose to partner with McCree on this Project, “said Tony G. Jackson, Winter Haven Fire Chief.

The complex fuses modern elements with a traditional Florida Cracker style architecture. It is highlighted by a 2-story, 4-bay fire station that is fully equipped with 14 bunks rooms, a state-of-the-art kitchen facility and other features such as a screened in patio and work-out room. A short walk away is the fire department administration building that is built to withstand hurricane force winds and serve the community as a hub for emergency operations in the event that a natural disaster threatens.

“We are thankful to have had the opportunity to aid the City of Winter Haven in achieving their vision for the Winter Haven Fire Safety Complex. This beautiful facility offers many state of the art features as well as the potential to earn LEED Gold Certification,” stated Richard McCree, Sr., Chairman of McCree.
